As a queer person living in the midwest, it means SO much to me sharing and connecting with LGBTQ+ folks in Wisconsin. This post is brought to you by my own time and research and connections to the queer community in my beloved dairy state. The midwest is inherently queer and many LGBTQ+ folks call this space their home.

August is a transgender man who frequently speaks about transgender and disability issues on his Tiktok account. From Wisconsin, a largely conservative state, August brings laughter and delight to being an LGBTQ+ person in the midwest. Xan is a queer independent artist located in Wisconsin. They create jewelry, stickers, buttons among other things for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent people via their Patreon and Etsy shops. Their tiktok focuses largely on sharing about new products from their shop, answering client questions and sharing cheerfully queer anecdotes. Xan is a genderqueer delight on the internet and brings visibility to a variety of LGBTQ+ issues.

Mercury Stardust is a brilliant transgender woman from Wisconsin who gained quick notoriety on Tiktok from her “Handy Ma’am” series in which she patiently shares instructional videos for folks living on their own or independently for the first time. Her hacks, tips, and humorous candor help break down stigma around maintenance technicians and she empowers her audience to learn new skills. Mercury is also an accomplished burlesque performer and regularly hosts dynamic shows in the Madison area.

Avery Frankie is transgender and polyamorous life coach based in Wisconsin. They provide life coaching services as well as tarot readings. Their TikTok account primarily focuses on down to earth life as well as important personal anecdotes about gender and living as an LGBTQ+ individual. Frankie is also a great resource on polyamory both as a relationship dynamic and lifestyle, as they often share personal anecdotes as well as fun moments.
