With a URL slug like “giving-people-more-control” Instagram seems to be attempting to address and perhaps even target folks who have been feeling overwhelmed by the app, especially in recent months as an entire population of fully vaccinated folks are slowly venturing out into the world and seem to be documenting their journey every step of the way. Whether or not to keep likes has been a hotly debated topic for users and creators alike on Instagram for a while, it’s nothing new. Instagram took away likes for…

I loved this so much! Excellent advice, and I found you worded a lot of my own thoughts when reading others' profiles wonderfully!

I used to live religiously by a daily planner. It began in high school when we were required to carry our school-year agenda at all times in order to use the bathroom and also served as a hall pass when we were running late.

It made sense to continue using a planner in college because I was still carrying textbooks, a laptop, and a backpack everywhere. It didn’t stop the late-night panic that I’d forgotten to write something down. …

I've long thought of my twitter fam as a community, and being intentional about how I engage with them has become really important to me!

If you’re a small business, content creator, or brilliant meme maker who wants to grow your following on Instagram, these brief tips are just for you! As a content creator myself, I spend time talking to clients about how they can show up authentically on social media, and grow their brand. Let’s dive in!

  1. Caption everything — and use complete sentences!

This might seem like a no-brainer, but in order for people to come to hang out on your page — they need stuff to look at! Caption your grid authentically, including a few emojis (I’m limiting you to 2–3)…

One mistake I see many content creators making is believing that they are on an island, separated from anyone else. They’re trying to create a community (well, some of them, anyway) but are struggling to create content on their own. And the internet, especially social media, can be brutal, racist, transphobic, ableist, and sexist to anyone who isn’t thin, white, able-bodied, and cisgender.

It’s easy to burn out when you only see yourself doing the work you want to see. And in many spaces, there are content creators pioneering their field, especially in highly censored fields like sex education or…

I have no recollection of what I thought therapy was, I just knew why I was there. I was anxious and depressed. To this day I don’t have an official diagnosis, actually, a lot of people don’t. And you don’t need one to get into therapy. I know now that people go to therapy for a wide variety of reasons including, but not limited to: mental health, relationship, communication, conflict resolution, workplace strain/stress, trauma resolution, behavior management, to understand themselves and their family’s choices and so much more.

I went to therapy because I had hit a depressive episode so…

I stirred ramen into a boiling pot of water as I spoke softly into the mic at my ear, “I love you so much grandma, I’m here with you.” I was barely paying attention as the sweet potato sauteed to my left, so I turned the heat down as we spoke.

“I don’t know if I should come, I mean, I know we had a really good conversation yesterday. What do you think?” I ask as tears break the surface of my voice.

“Let’s take this one day at a time for now,” she said to me as I plopped…

My birthday last year compared to this year’s could not have been more different, blame it on quarantine, a relationship ending, graduating from college, finding out I was an Aries, not a Pisces, or an international pandemic, 2020 was not set up to be a very good birthday given the circumstances.

When I turned twenty-one, I made the big decision to propose to my ex and stage a secret photoshoot to capture the proposal. The party was fun but awkward, I was emotionally exhausted, and it rained; but overall it was an incredible day and one of my best birthdays-I…

On February 8th, 2020 I woke up with a new friend on my couch and an anxiety attack. I paced around my apartment, checked and double-checked my bags of name tags, and watched a Bon Apetit video before heading out to my local coffee-shop. I think I was ready almost an hour before I even needed to leave.

We got there and I checked in at the register, grabbed the reserved sign, and kindly asked someone to move from the big table I had reserved, and welcomed a couple of people that had followed me down to the table. …
