bad ideas are good business practice

When was the last time you follow the trail on a bad idea….just to see what happened?

First time entrepreneurs often suffer from a lack of action. They’re all talk, no walk. They have all these ideas, but never seem to really pick one and run with it. Or they always choose the hardest route and sink a bunch of time into an idea nobody asked for.

You heard me! some ideas SUCK, and entrepreneurs are so firm on following through, they’re not willing to pull the plug. This fear can lead to indecision in the future, and make it even harder for them to leap out and try something new.

Listen! we’ve all been there. But my biggest take away from the last year is that sometimes bad ideas are worth following up on, if anything to make a really good mistake.

I love the phrase: “Never make the same mistake twice” because it implies that you’re continuing to try new things, new ideas, and are learning from the experiences along the way. thats pretty brave!

I know there’s some type A folks in the crowd who may be wondering, “but how do I know if it’s a bad idea”.

It’s a bad idea if the first thing you think is “that could never work” because you’re simply not even giving the idea room to breathe! (oohohoh, what does that sound like? An impossible goal?) Bad ideas, while they can be tricky, are an easy to way to problem solve if you’re in a stagnant spot in your business.

If you can’t decide whether to launch a new product, go on vacation or start researching a new offer, it’s okay to take a step back and try something silly. Try something that seems weird, or counterintuitive. Try it for 15 days, for 30 — and see how your brain feels. That bad idea might just teach you a thing or two about a really GOOD idea you have, but haven’t been sure how to start.

Because that’s the key! Just getting started.

If you’re looking for your next good bad idea, I’d love to work with you! Book a call with me here :)
